STICKS AND STONES: All The Craft Sticks want to do is bring variety to the local rock scene.
With all five band members coming from various high schools across Stockton, that shouldn't be too hard.
"We're giving the local scene something different," said bassist Rod Richenberg, 15, who attends Lincoln High School. "We're not hardcore but we're not pop-punk"
Other band members include lead guitarist Jonathan Ramirez, 15, from St. Mary's High School; drummer Tim Montalban, 16, from Venture Academy; lead singer Jake Smith, 15, from Lincoln High School..
Richenberg said the band started in a garage 18 months ago. Now it is on the verge of releasing its eight-song EP, "The 1st Symphony."
The Craft Sticks are holding their CD release at 7 p.m. today at Blackwater Cafe, 912 N. Yosemite St., Stockton. Cost is $7. Also performing are The Last Chapter, The Harms, and Scissorhands.
